Grand Champion: Cinnamon Roll Sugar Cookies

I entered these in a cookie contest last week and these little gems were chosen GRAND CHAMPION.
Granted, the cookie contest was held at a church, but the taste testers chose my cookie out of about 12 others.
My church holds a Mid Winter Adventure every year, and the monies raised from this adventure are put toward purchasing blankets for natural disaster victims.
After the cookie contest results the cookies are then auctioned off, and all the proceeds go toward the blankets.

These cinnamon roll sugar cookies were auctioned and purchased for $56.00. Can you imagine buying 1 dozen cookies for $56.00? The grand champion cookies are always the best, fought over, and go for the highest amount.
It's nice to know that my cookies are that GOOD.

I have a similar recipe on my blog for this kind of cookie, but I like these so much better. These cookies are made with MY sugar cookie recipe.

This is what I did:

I rolled out half of the cookie dough.

Sprinkled it generously with cinnamon sugar mixture and finely crushed pecans.

Rolled it up from the long side.

Tucked in the ends by pinching them.

And then sliced the log in about 1 inch slices.

And I finally found something to do with that icky dark chocolate indulgence......I drizzled it on the tops of my cinnamon roll sugar cookies. So, maybe it isn't so icky after all? GRAND CHAMPION!! I may have to contact Kraft to show them what I did with their product.

Cinnamon Roll Sugar Cookies Drizzled with Dark Chocolate Indulgence

3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. butter (2 sticks), soft
2 eggs
1 c. sugar

Mix flour, baking powder, and soda. Cut in butter until blended. In separate bowl, beat eggs, add sugar and beat well. Blend egg mixture into flour thoroughly. Chill dough for 4 - 5 hours or overnight. Roll out half of the dough on a floured surface, sprinkle with a generous amount of cinnamon sugar mixture and finely crushed pecans, and roll dough in a log form from long side. Tuck in ends of log, and slice in 1 inch slices. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375 degree F. for 6 - 9 minutes. Keep and eye on them, once they just start turning golden brown, take them out of the oven. Cool on cookie racks, and drizzle with dark chocolate indulgence when completely cool.
