Pardon Me: Rosenmunna (Swedish Thumbprint Cookies)

Please pardon my post....I had a late Christmas celebration with my family since I spent 10 days in December in the beautiful Arizona state.

And I have another Christmas celebration coming up on the 7th. It's kind of funny how we have to schedule around a vacation....

I love thumbprints....they are so colorful, kid friendly, and they taste wonderful. You can never go wrong with strawberry jam.

And I got to use one of my Christmas gifts for the very first time. Wilton cookie baking sheets. I am truly in love!!

One thing that really surprised me about this recipe, there is no egg. Just butter, flour, and sugar. How simple is that? And of course, the strawberry jam sends them over the top....

Also, I apologize for the lack of recipe reference. I have the recipe scratched in pen on a piece of paper, and was found in my holiday stack of recipes. I need to do better on my info. Maybe a resolution I can make?

Rosenmunna (Swedish Thumbprint Cookies)

1 c. butter, soft
1/2 c. white sugar
2 c. sifted flour
jam of choice (I used home-made strawberry)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add sifted flour and mix well. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and place on cookie sheet. Imprint your thumb in the center to make 1/2 inch indentation. Fill with your favorite jam. Bake 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden. Watch closely, my first batch browned too much.

  2. I love thumbprints! I have a good recipe but you have to roll them in egg white and then chopped walnuts, and honestly, it's just too much effort. LOL! So I omitted the walnuts and they just don't taste as good.... I have been wanting to try a new recipe and this looks like it will be it! So easy and they look beautiful and delicious!
