Only 3 Ingredients And No Glasses: Biscuits

Is there anything better than a nice warm puffy biscuit? I think not.

This recipe is so simple, fast, convenient enough for last minute planning, and full of flavor.

Don't they look delicious?

First of all, I want to share with you the stupid thing I did today. Yes, I am suppose to wear glasses.

Read that label on the candy bar. What does it say? The words in red say, "Single Origin Dark Chocolate".

What do you think this "no glasses" stupid lady thought it said?

Yup, I thought it said "orange". I was so excited to find a dark chocolate "orange" flavored candy bar, and I thought about it all the way home from the store. I couldn't wait to open that orange flavored candy bar and lose myself in the soothing flavors.

I got home and started unpacking my grocery bags, got to the candy bag, was bragging to Sean about how I found dark chocolate orange (na, na, na I have dark chocolate orange). I pulled it out of the bag, held it up in Sean's face, reread the label, and almost threw it across the kitchen. You have got to be kidding me....How could I be so stupid?
I guess the next time I go grocery shopping I will make sure my glasses are on my face.

Do you have certain ingredients (staples) that you just can't operate without in the kitchen?

Some of mine are, butter, sugar, flour, cinnamon, soup base, oh my goodness, I could go on and on....

Let me introduce you to my new found staple in the kitchen. I will no longer be able to operate without heavy whipping cream.

I will show you why.

I ran across this recipe, and I am sorry I have forgotten where it came from. This situation is kind of like the glasses situation. I forget to wear my glasses and I also forget to write things down. I deeply apologize.

But anyway, this recipe only has three ingredients and makes the most perfect biscuits.

The original recipe that I found only used two ingredients, I added the butter.

That right there is the biscuit mix. Self-rising flour, melted butter, and whipping cream.

Very simple, huh?

The dough had to be kneaded and rolled out.

That is my biscuit cutter. Obviously I don't own one, so I had to use a drinking glass that measured two inches on the opening.

I filled my pizza size baking stone with two inch biscuit rounds (no grease required).

Just look at the amazing results. Puffy, melt in your mouth biscuits that can be used for enjoyment alone, under sausage gravy, chipped beef gravy, creamy chicken gravy, chocolate gravy; should I continue?

And make sure you have a large jar of honey close by.

These are perfect to take to a last minute invite too.

Debbie calls you at 11:30 a.m and invites you to lunch at Susie's at noon. Yup, plenty of time to whip up these tasty biscuits. And they will still be warm when you get there. I don't know about you, but I aim to impress my friends.

Biscuits

2 c. self-rising flour
2 TBS melted butter
1 c. whipping cream

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Lightly grease a baking sheet (I used an un-greased baking stone).
Combine cream and melted butter. Pour cream mixture into flour, stirring just until blended (the dough will be a little stiff).
Transfer dough to a lightly floured (I used the self-rising flour for this) surface and knead 10 times. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness and cut with a 2 inch biscuit cutter. Transfer to prepared pan and bake 10 - 12 minutes, until golden brown. Serve warm. Makes 12 biscuits (I ended with 17).

Good Luck~Happy Eating~Enjoy

  3. Made these except didn't have heavy cream so used half and half. I added about 2 more tablespoons and they turned out absolutely wonderful!!! I also loved the recipe for making your own self rising flour (can't hardly find this in Michigan don't know why??) These turned out better than cutting all the shortening in biscuits... never making those again... yeah... love this...

  7. I think there were a lot of people that enjoyed that part of my blog. But I decided to separate my spiritual feelings from my food. I created a blog for my thoughts and feelings here: http://www.fishingfromtheshore.blogspot.com
